Thank You

Firstly, if you’re reading this, then thank you for choosing Beyond First Aid for your first aid training. The aim of this page is to provide you with the information you need to:

  • make it here safely and on time
  • know what to expect while you’re here
  • bring the right equipment necessary for your course

Berkshire

For most of our training we use the facilities at the top of Radstock Lane in Reading. The Community Centre has a large hall to the rear, and a smaller classroom to the side. The Social Club at the front is a possibility if everything else is booked up.

We also have use of Radstock Primary School nextdoor, but this is limited to school holidays, evenings and weekends. Something to do with lots of children about the place during the week apparently. The ‘Office’ is nextdoor to the school. All three buildings have the same postcode, and signs will be out directing you to the location we are using.

Enter RG6 5UZ into your Satnav, or search Google Maps for Beyond First Aid, Radstock Lane, Earley, Reading

There is amble parking to the front.

Reading Buses

The 19b travels along Beech Lane with the closest stops being Thanington Way, Chelwood Road or Dene Close. The Reading Buses app is available here for Google users or here from the Apple store.

Times

All courses start at 09:00 each day but the coffee is on from 08:30. There are breaks throughout the day for refreshments, when tea, coffee, biscuits etc. are provided.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is only 3 hours long so will finish at 12:00. On all other courses we aim to finish by 16:00 each day, 17:00 on Sports, Activity and Wilderness Workshop courses.

Lunch

You will need to provide your own lunch at this location, as there are no facilities on site, and this is not included in the price. There are shops nearby, but they are a driving distance away and too far to walk to and get back in the 30 minutes we have.

West Sussex, or is that Lincolnshire?

The Yes Bus

Sadly, the Yes Bus has moved and we are no longer able to offer wilderness courses inside the campus near Pulborough. HOWEVER… there may be an opportunity to use a new site in Lincolnshire. Watch this space.

All Courses

What is included?

The cost of all courses, wherever the location, includes all equipment, handouts, and a downloadable course manual. Your certificate will be valid for 3 years from the date of issue, usually the last day of course. Please be aware that BLS is only valid for 1 year. If you feel you need to make notes, please bring pen, pencil, paper etc with you, but there really is no need. We would rather you were listening to the instructor, and more importantly, interacting with the instructor.

This is YOUR course, ask questions.

Clothing

All courses include the need to kneel on the floor and/or be rolled into a position where your airway is safe, so sensible, loose fitting, comfortable clothing should be worn. On the Activity course and Wilderness Workshops, we will be outside at some point, so dress for the weather. If you think you’ll need them, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing including hat and gloves. In summer, we supply insect repellent and sun cream.
